Josepher Li

Josepher Li is a seasoned patent litigation attorney and a Partner at Armond Wilson LLP, based in their Newport Beach, California office. His practice encompasses intellectual property litigation, appeals, and critical motions across federal courts nationwide and before the U.S. Patent Office. Li leverages his background as an MIT-trained engineer and registered patent attorney to handle complex patent, trade secret, and copyright cases involving diverse technologies.

Li frequently represents clients on the defense side, particularly in patent challenges. For instance, he successfully defended Advanced Micro Devices against a patent in an inter partes review (IPR) related to memory technology, resulting in the cancellation of all 19 asserted claims. He also successfully defended Purdue University in three separate IPR challenges concerning a groundbreaking patent on silicon carbide MOSFET devices, preventing their institution. While predominantly representing defendants in tracked cases, he has also represented manufacturers, securing a $2 million judgment for Targus International in a dispute over checkpoint-friendly laptop cases.

His experience includes significant activity before the U.S. Patent Office, where he has successfully represented clients in IPR and ex parte reexamination proceedings. Beyond the highlighted IPR successes, his work has included appellate matters, such as a Federal Circuit appeal concerning Sony v. Intellectual Pixels.

Prior to joining Armond Wilson LLP, Li was a litigator at Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP. He earned his engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his law degree from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 2016, the same year he was admitted to practice.
