Jordan Michaela Cowger

Jordan Michaela Cowger is a patent litigation attorney at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, where she leverages her experience across all stages of patent litigation, from pre-filing through trial preparation. Her practice encompasses a variety of technical areas, with a notable focus on clean energy and renewables, particularly solar cell technology, as well as agricultural and food industries, given her background in animal science research and complex breeding and genetic technologies.

Ms. Cowger handles patent litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. While her single tracked appearance, Maxeon Solar Pte. Ltd. v. REC Solar Holdings AS, involved defending REC Solar Holdings AS in a dispute concerning TOPCon solar cell technology, her broader experience includes representing plaintiffs like Pioneer in patent infringement cases related to genetically modified plants and Corteva Agriscience in similar matters, alongside defending Corteva in contract disputes arising from patent cross-license agreements. She also has experience contributing to significant outcomes, including a $240 million jury verdict for client Promptu in a patent infringement lawsuit against Comcast, involving voice recognition technology.

Ms. Cowger is actively involved in PTAB proceedings, with her practice areas explicitly including Inter Partes Review (IPR) and Post-Grant Review (PGR). Her experience includes representing clients in parallel IPR filings alongside district court litigation, such as in the Maxeon Solar case, and successfully challenging patent claims in IPRs related to hybrid vehicle battery technology.

Admitted to the District of Columbia Bar, Ms. Cowger is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas. She earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and her B.S., summa cum laude, from the University of Missouri. Prior to joining Finnegan, she served as a law clerk for Judge Robert W. Schroeder III in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and interned for Judge Amy Berman Jackson in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, as well as at the U.S. International Trade Commission.
