Jonathan Tietz

Jonathan Tietz is a patent litigation attorney currently serving as Counsel at Perkins Coie LLP. His practice encompasses a broad range of technology areas, including high-tech, chemical, biotechnological, mechanical, and pharmaceutical issues, and he handles matters across various federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States, federal and state courts of appeal, and federal district courts. He is also active in commercial litigation, international trade appeals, Hatch-Waxman cases, contract disputes, and trade secret matters.

Tietz primarily works on the defense side in patent litigation. His tracked appearance in Light Guide Innovations, LLC v. Hisense Company Ltd., et al., where he served as counsel for the defendant Hisense Company Ltd., aligns with a significant defense verdict achieved by Perkins Coie for AUO and Hisense in the Eastern District of Texas. This case, decided in February 2026, marked a notable defense win in a patent infringement case in that jurisdiction.

He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2019, and holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2016), an M.S. in Organic Chemistry (2012), and a B.S. in Chemistry (2011) from Kent State University.
