John Jackson

John M. Jackson is a highly experienced patent litigator and partner at Jackson Walker LLP, where he also co-chairs the firm's Cybersecurity Litigation Group. His practice focuses on patent infringement and complex commercial litigation across federal and state courts nationwide, as well as before the International Trade Commission (ITC).

Mr. Jackson's technical proficiency spans a diverse range of industries, handling patent infringement cases involving software, internet applications, consumer electronics, oil drilling technology, mechanical devices, chemical compositions, and business methods. His work often involves defending clients, aligning with his recorded appearance on the defendant side in patent litigation. He has served as trial counsel in more than 135 patent infringement lawsuits and has tried three major patent infringement cases to a jury. Notably, he represented comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla's company in a patent infringement suit and represented Kohl's and Tony Hawk in a trademark dispute.

Jackson Walker's Intellectual Property Litigation group, with which Mr. Jackson is associated, demonstrates significant experience in PTAB proceedings, including securing the denial of an IPR and prevailing in a Federal Circuit appeal that reversed a PTAB decision. The firm also boasts notable outcomes such as complete defense jury verdicts and summary judgments of no infringement for clients like Roku in the Western District of Texas.

Mr. Jackson earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law. He is also certified as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager through the International Association of Privacy Professionals, reflecting his expertise in data privacy issues.
