Joel B. Rothman

Joel B. Rothman is a seasoned intellectual property litigator with a practice focused on patent enforcement and defense. His expertise extends to representing clients in infringement disputes involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, alongside broader commercial intellectual property matters. Mr. Rothman's case history indicates a particular specialization in technologies related to the vaping and electronic cigarette industry, as evidenced by his extensive work for VPR Brands, LP, an intellectual property holding company that develops and distributes atomization-related products, vaporizers, and e-liquids. He is Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law by The Florida Bar.

Mr. Rothman primarily represents plaintiffs in patent litigation, having appeared on the plaintiff side in four out of five tracked cases. His defense experience includes a lead counsel role for a defendant in VPR Brands, LP v. HQDTech USA LLC et al.. He is currently a Managing Partner at SRIPLAW, and his patent litigation career also includes appearances with Schneider Rothman Intellectual Property Law Group.

Notable engagements include his representation of VPR Brands, LP in multiple patent infringement cases, such as VPR Brands, LP v. Jupiter Research, LLC, VPR Brands, LP v. PHD Marketing, Inc., VPR Brands, LP v. POP Vapor, and VPR Brands, LP v. Shenzhen Fango Technology Co.. A significant outcome includes a settlement agreement reached with POP Vapor in February 2025, which strengthened VPR Brands' intellectual property protection, particularly concerning their patented Auto Draw Technology. Mr. Rothman has also been involved in proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), as indicated by his appearances in inter partes review documents. He served as Counsel of Record for an applicant in Stevens, et al. v. CoreLogic, Inc., seeking an extension of time to file a petition for a writ of certiorari before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Rothman earned his J.D. with honors from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University in 1991, and his B.A. magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany in 1988. He is admitted to practice in Florida, Georgia, Washington, and New York, as well as numerous federal courts across the country, including the Second, Third, Fifth, Seventh, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals.
