Jesse Salen

Jesse Salen is a seasoned patent litigator and partner at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, where he is a member of the Intellectual Property practice group in the San Diego (Del Mar) office. His practice focuses on resolving complex intellectual property disputes through settlements and trial victories, and he also engages in patent counseling, prosecution, and licensing.

Mr. Salen's expertise spans a range of technology areas, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals (including Hatch-Waxman (ANDA) cases), wireless communications, healthcare information technology, software, optics, nanotechnology, computer devices, and data storage. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Salen spent 16 years in the technology and life sciences industries, including leading a venture-backed telemedicine startup and developing products for GE Healthcare and Hitachi Data Systems.

Mr. Salen earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, an MBA from the University of California, Irvine, and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Boston University. He is admitted to practice before the USPTO and is an active licensee with the State Bar of California.
