Jeremy Peterson

Jeremy Peterson is a patent litigation attorney at PV Law, specializing in complex intellectual property disputes across a broad range of technology sectors. His practice frequently encompasses pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, genomic research, bioinformatics, wireless communications, web applications, semiconductors, and solar technology. Peterson's scientific background, including over a decade in genomic research and bioinformatics, provides him with a deep technical understanding relevant to his patent litigation work.

Peterson maintains a balanced practice, representing both patent holders in their efforts to secure royalties and injunctions, and defendants facing allegations of patent infringement. His experience includes all stages of patent litigation, from pre-suit investigation through jury trials and claim construction, in federal district courts across the United States, including key patent litigation venues such as the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Texas, the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Northern District of California. He also handles Section 337 proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).

Peterson is particularly active in post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He has been individually recognized by Patexia as a Top 250 Most Active Attorney for PTAB work in 2024 and 2023, and a Best Performing Attorney in prior years. Notable cases include his role as respondent counsel for Maxeon Solar Pte Ltd. in the IPR proceeding REC Solar Holdings AS et al. v. Maxeon Solar Pte Ltd. (IPR2025-00592), which resulted in a discretionary denial. He also represents Maxeon Solar Pte Ltd. in the related Federal Circuit appeal Hanwha Solutions Corp v. Maxeon Solar Pte Ltd. (26-1531), stemming from another PTAB IPR.

Peterson is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He earned his J.D. from Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University in 2007, following a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1994.
