Jeffrey Homrig

Jeffrey Homrig is a highly regarded patent litigator and Co-Head of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP's IP, Technology & Science Litigation practice, bringing 25 years of experience to complex intellectual property and commercial disputes. His practice primarily focuses on high-stakes patent and trade secret matters, with extensive expertise in both software and hardware cases. Homrig represents some of the world's most innovative technology and life sciences companies, demonstrating deep experience across sectors including high tech, biotechnology, medical devices, and AI.

Throughout his career, Homrig has predominantly represented defendants, with his tracked appearances including defense-side roles as Lead Counsel for Apple Inc. in ONE-E-WAY, INC. v. Apple Inc. and Counsel for Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. in Xifi Networks R&D, Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. et al. While firm descriptions indicate he is accomplished representing both plaintiffs and defendants, his prominent engagements often involve defending major operating companies against patent infringement allegations. He is known for leading and trying cases across the country, including in federal district courts in California, Texas, and Delaware, as well as before the International Trade Commission (ITC).

Homrig is recognized for his significant involvement in PTAB and IPR proceedings. He serves as an adjunct lecturer at Berkeley Law, teaching the Patent Litigation II course, which specifically focuses on post-grant review and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Furthermore, he co-authors the Federal Judicial Center's definitive guide for federal judges on patent litigation, now in its third edition.

Homrig began his legal career at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he practiced for ten years. He then became a partner at another leading global law firm, identified as Latham & Watkins, where he served as Global Vice Chair of its Intellectual Property Litigation practice, before rejoining Weil in July 2025 as a Co-Head of the IP, Technology & Science Litigation practice. He was admitted to the State Bar of California on December 3, 2001.
