Jeffrey G. Oelke

Jeffrey G. Oelke is an experienced patent litigator focusing on intellectual property disputes for high-tech, life sciences, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology companies. His practice encompasses a broad range of technology areas, including Hatch-Waxman patent litigation, electrical arts, mobile communications, internet applications, semiconductor devices, and hardware and software inventions. Oelke primarily defends operating companies, consistently representing clients on the defendant side, a focus supported by his tracked appearance defending Symantec Corporation.

Currently, Mr. Oelke is a partner at Fenwick & West LLP. Prior to joining Fenwick, he was a partner in the IP group at another leading international law firm, which aligns with his representation of Symantec Corporation while at Sidley Austin. He has served as lead counsel in numerous high-profile patent infringement disputes and arbitrations concerning patent licensing issues, achieving significant victories for his clients. One such tracked case includes his role as lead counsel for the defendant in Intellectual Ventures I LLC v. Symantec Corporation et al.

Mr. Oelke possesses extensive experience in all phases of complex patent litigation, including inter partes reviews (IPR) at the U.S. Patent Office and appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1992 and holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University, awarded in 1989. He was admitted to practice in New York in 1993 and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in 1995.
