Jason M. Zucchi

Jason M. Zucchi is a partner at Avantech Law, LLP, specializing in complex intellectual property litigation, including high-stakes patent infringement and trade secret cases. His practice spans a broad range of technologies, including medical devices, electronics, telecommunications, life sciences, and automotive technologies. Notably, his experience includes patent litigation concerning vehicle computer control systems, network-connected vehicles, in-vehicle multimedia systems, and features supporting platforms like Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.

Zucchi primarily represents plaintiffs in patent assertion matters, frequently acting as lead counsel for entities such as AutoConnect Holdings LLC in disputes against major automotive manufacturers including Hyundai, Toyota, and Ford. He has also represented Moskowitz Family LLC in cases involving spinal surgery patents. While predominantly plaintiff-focused (6 of 8 tracked appearances), he also has experience representing defendants in multi-patent infringement cases.

Among his notable outcomes, Zucchi represented a plaintiff in a patent case against an electronics manufacturer that resulted in a jury finding of willful infringement, a substantial damages award, a permanent injunction, and contributed to a Supreme Court case that set a new standard for enhanced damages. He also successfully settled a patent case against a medical device company after securing key claim construction rulings. Conversely, he represented Weple IP Holdings LLC in a case against Meta Platforms Inc. involving streaming patents, which resulted in a judgment on the pleadings granted against Weple due to claims being deemed directed to an abstract idea. Zucchi earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2007 and holds a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota.
