Jason H. Liss

Jason H. Liss is a Special Counsel at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr (WilmerHale), where his practice centers on intellectual property matters across agency, trial, and appellate levels. His work encompasses a diverse range of technologies, including semiconductors, computer networking protocols and components, wireless and cellular communication standards, navigation devices, DNA testing technology, loudspeaker design, and pharmaceuticals, as well as general computer hardware, software, and medical devices. Liss primarily defends clients in patent disputes, with all four of his tracked appearances being on the defendant side. His experience includes representing a semiconductor manufacturer against patent infringement claims and securing a complete jury trial victory for a file-sharing service provider on patent infringement claims, leading to the invalidation of the asserted patent claims. He also notably represented defendants in cases such as IoT Innovations LLC v. Savant Systems, Inc. and other untitled patent defense matters.

His practice covers all phases of litigation, from pre-suit investigations and discovery to alternative dispute resolution, trial, and appeal. Liss has experience with district court trials before both bench and jury, Federal Circuit appeals, and International Trade Commission investigations. Liss earned his JD from Harvard Law School in 2008, an MS in Information Systems from Drexel University in 2004, and a BA in American History, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and before several federal courts, including the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
