Jacob Zweig

Jacob S. Zweig is an accomplished patent litigator with a practice focused on intellectual property and technology disputes, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in federal district courts, demonstrating a balanced approach to litigation, though his tracked appearances show a defendant-side representation. His technology experience spans diverse areas such as semiconductors, biotechnology, and medical devices.

Mr. Zweig has significant experience in various forums beyond district courts, including state and federal appellate proceedings, inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the USPTO, opposition proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), and patent infringement proceedings before the International Trade Commission (ITC). Notably, he has successfully argued for the invalidation of challenged patent claims in an IPR for a major multinational corporation.

Previously, Mr. Zweig was a senior counsel at Turner Boyd Seraphine. In January 2026, he joined Thompson Hine LLP as part of a move that saw Turner Boyd Seraphine's lawyers and staff establish Thompson Hine's Silicon Valley office. His professional background includes a successful motion for summary judgment of non-infringement in a complex patent and trade secret litigation on behalf of a biotechnology company and proving ownership of performance motion capture technology as part of a trial team.

Mr. Zweig earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 2013, and his B.A., with honors, from the University of California, Berkeley in 1999. He is admitted to the State Bar of California and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Federal, and Ninth Circuits, as well as several U.S. District Courts, including the Central, Eastern, and Northern Districts of California and the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
