Jacob Snodgrass

Jacob Snodgrass is a patent litigation attorney at PV Law, where his practice encompasses patent disputes across various technical fields. His background as a mechanical engineer, and prior experience as a design engineer for subsea production systems, inform his work in technologies such as medical devices, office equipment, semiconductor manufacturing, mobile telecommunications, and power tools. While his tracked case experience indicates a focus on defending clients, his firm profile states that he represents both plaintiffs and defendants in patent disputes.

Mr. Snodgrass has demonstrated significant experience in both district court litigation and post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He served as lead counsel for Maxeon Solar Pte Ltd. in REC Solar Holdings AS et al. v. Maxeon Solar Pte Ltd., a patent infringement case in the Eastern District of Texas involving advanced solar cell technology (TOPCon). This district court case concluded with a joint dismissal without prejudice, suggesting a negotiated resolution. Additionally, he was part of the counsel team for Maxeon Solar Pte Ltd. in the related IPR proceeding, Canadian Solar Inc v. Maxeon Solar Pte Ltd (IPR2024-01039), which resulted in a final written decision finding the patent unpatentable, a decision currently under appeal. Mr. Snodgrass is recognized for his contributions to PV Law's top rankings for PTAB work by Chambers and Partners and Patexia. He also represented Maxeon in Maxeon Solar Pte. Ltd. v. Mr. Snodgrass earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2007 and holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, cum laude, from Texas A&M University (2001). He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and several U.S. District Courts.
