Isaac Philip Rabicoff

Isaac Philip Rabicoff is an intellectual property and commercial litigator and the founder of Rabicoff Law, LLC. His patent litigation practice primarily focuses on representing plaintiffs, particularly Non-Practicing Entities (NPEs) or Patent Assertion Entities (PAEs), in infringement actions. This is evidenced by his firm being recognized as one of Lex Machina's top three most active patent litigation firms for plaintiffs in 2017 and his designation as the most active attorney representing plaintiffs in 2023. He has led licensing campaigns against major technology companies such as Amazon, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Sony, and Huawei. The patents he litigates often involve technology areas related to electronics, communications, and semiconductor technologies, including pointing and identification devices, touch/gesture input technology, image processing, remote controls, and standard compression techniques.

Mr. Rabicoff's experience extends to various courts, including appeals before the Federal and Seventh Circuits. Among his notable engagements are cases for Pointwise Ventures LLC, such as Pointwise Ventures LLC v. PlantSnap Inc, which involved a patent related to pointing and identification devices. He also represented Pointwise Ventures LLC in litigation against Google LLC and Snap, Inc., where cases were voluntarily dismissed, some with prejudice, often at early stages. He has also represented plaintiffs in other matters such as Magnacross, LLC v. OKI Americas, Inc., where a court found no binding settlement agreement despite an "agreement in principle" on price.

In addition to district court litigation, Mr. Rabicoff is a registered patent attorney with experience in PTAB Trial proceedings, including Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs) and Covered Business Method (CBM) reviews. He has successfully defended patent owners, achieving denials of institution for numerous post-grant review petitions, including those filed by Mastercard and Adobe. He also represented Pointwise Ventures LLC in an IPR against Google LLC that was terminated due to settlement.

Mr. Rabicoff is admitted to practice in Illinois (since 2013) and Virginia (since 2019), and before several federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago with a Trial Advocacy Certificate and holds a Bachelor of Physics from the University of Kansas. It is noteworthy that in 2020, in Cedar Lane Technologies Inc. v. Blackmagic Design Inc. in the Northern District of California, Mr. Rabicoff received a $1,000 sanction for procedural irregularities and was referred to the Standing Committee on Professional Conduct concerning his practice of frequently filing patent infringement lawsuits in the district without seeking pro hac vice admission. He paid the sanction and issued an apology for the procedural handling of the case.
