Igor V. Timofeyev

Igor V. Timofeyev is a partner in the Litigation Department at Paul Hastings, based in the firm's Washington, D.C., office. His practice primarily encompasses appellate litigation, international arbitration, and complex dispute resolution, with experience across constitutional, foreign affairs, securities, healthcare, patent, and antitrust issues. He has been recognized for his work in complex litigation, including a "Litigator of the Week 'Shout-Out'" from The American Lawyer for a victory in the New York Court of Appeals in a non-patent matter on behalf of Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).

In his patent litigation practice, Mr. Timofeyev has handled cases involving sophisticated technology, particularly semiconductor devices. He was listed as back-up counsel for the plaintiff, Greenthread, LLC, a patent assertion entity, in Dell Technologies Inc. et al. v. Greenthread, LLC, a case involving patents related to integrated semiconductor devices, including transistors with graded dopants and well regions.

Mr. Timofeyev also possesses experience with post-grant review proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) through his appellate work. He argued for the appellant, VirnetX Inc. (a patent assertion entity), in appeals from PTAB inter partes review (IPR) decisions before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in VirnetX Inc. v. Apple Inc.

Mr. Timofeyev is admitted to the District of Columbia Bar and the New York Bar. He earned his J.D. from Yale Law School in 2001, where he served as an Articles Editor on the Yale Law Journal. He also holds an M.Phil from the University of Oxford (1998) and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Williams College (1996).
