Geoffrey L. Harrison

Geoffrey L. Harrison is a highly experienced patent litigator and a partner at Susman Godfrey LLP, where he has practiced since 1993 and served on the firm's Executive Committee. While his broader practice encompasses a wide range of complex commercial disputes including antitrust, trade secrets, and energy litigation, he has a notable focus on patent infringement cases. His patent litigation work frequently involves technology areas such as biometric authentication, wireless communications, and password-less architecture systems.

In his patent litigation practice, Mr. Harrison primarily represents plaintiffs. His tracked appearances confirm two plaintiff-side roles, and he has successfully pursued infringement claims on behalf of patent holders. A significant example of this is his representation of Proxense, LLC in its patent enforcement campaign.

Key cases include Proxense, LLC v. Google LLC and Proxense, LLC v. Microsoft Corporation. He was instrumental in securing a $100-plus million settlement for Proxense, LLC against Samsung Electronics in 2023 on the eve of trial, involving biometric authentication technology for mobile-pay applications. Google subsequently settled its dispute with Proxense in January 2025. His client, Proxense, LLC, has also been involved in numerous Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, including inter partes reviews (IPRs) filed by Microsoft, Google, and Apple, and appeals to the Federal Circuit concerning PTAB decisions.

Mr. Harrison earned his J.D. with high honors from The University of Chicago Law School in 1992, where he was Order of the Coif, and holds a B.A. in History and a B.S. in Economics, both cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania (1989). He is admitted to practice in Texas and New York, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court and multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals and District Courts.
