Erick Scott Robinson

Erick Scott Robinson is an accomplished patent litigator and trial lawyer with 25 years of experience, specializing in "bet-the-business" patent cases and trade secret disputes in both U.S. federal district courts and international venues. His technical background spans computer science, electronics, and biotechnology, allowing him to handle complex technology areas, including emerging AI technologies. He is noted for his expertise in patent monetization and licensing.

Robinson maintains a balanced practice, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He frequently works with sole inventors and small companies on a contingency fee basis, often opposing larger technology firms. Concurrently, he also represents Fortune 100 companies. His experience includes managing multi-jurisdictional cases in various countries, including China, Germany, and France.

Currently, Mr. Robinson is a Partner at Brown Rudnick LLP, where he also serves as co-chair of the firm's Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) practice group. Before joining Brown Rudnick in 2024, he held partner positions at firms such as Bochner PLLC, Cherry Johnson Siegmund James PC, Spencer Fane, Porter Hedges, and Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig. His in-house experience includes roles as Director of Patents for Qualcomm and Senior Patent Counsel at Red Hat, and he served as Director of Patent Litigation for a leading Chinese law firm. His tracked appearances include representing Quicker Connections LLC as plaintiff in Quicker Connections LLC v. Cisco Systems, Inc. and serving as Lead Counsel for a defendant in an untitled case.

He possesses extensive experience with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), regularly litigating inter partes reviews. He served as Respondent Counsel in Cisco Systems, Inc. v. Quicker Connections LLC (IPR2025-01088). Mr. Robinson has tried complex patent cases that have resulted in jury verdicts and settlements totaling billions of dollars in value.
