Elizabeth M. Crompton

Elizabeth M. Crompton is a patent litigator at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, where she serves as Counsel in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. Her practice focuses on complex patent disputes across a range of industries, including life sciences, technology, manufacturing, and consumer goods. With a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, she possesses a strong technical background that enables her to handle cases involving diverse technologies, from small DNA molecules to large construction vehicles. She has particularly deep experience in the life sciences sector, advising on FDA regulation, New Drug Applications (NDA), Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDA), and litigating patent infringement issues under the Hatch-Waxman Act.

Ms. Crompton's practice demonstrates a strong emphasis on defending clients in patent infringement actions. Her lone tracked appearance is on the defendant side, where she served as Lead Counsel for Thor Motor Coach, Inc. in ETN Capital LLC v. Thor Motor Coach, Inc. This case involved a vehicle leveling system, encompassing aspects of mechanical design and smart device interface technology. Her firm's broader experience also includes a history of defending various companies against patent infringement allegations, often securing favorable outcomes through strategic litigation.

Prior to joining Parker Poe in January 2020, Ms. Crompton practiced at Haynes and Boone, bringing her extensive experience in resolving patent disputes to Parker Poe's growing Life Sciences Industry Team. Her patent litigation experience extends to both federal district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She also counsels clients on patent infringement, validity, enforceability, and the prosecution of patent applications.

Beyond district court litigation, Ms. Crompton and Parker Poe's patent attorneys are active in post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), representing both patentees and challengers. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Crompton earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from George Mason University in 2010, a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Northwestern University in 2004, and a B.S., magna cum laude, in Chemistry from Tulane University in 1999.
