Prior to his move, he spent three decades at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he co-headed both the firm's nationwide Patent Litigation practice and its Life Sciences practice. He possesses significant experience in Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings, having been involved in related IPR proceedings and frequently representing both patent owners and petitioners.

Throughout his career, Reines has secured notable outcomes in high-stakes patent disputes. His achievements include overturning a $96 million jury verdict in a patent case related to organ transplant testing and securing a $45 million verdict in a Lanham Act false advertising lawsuit concerning diagnostic tests. He also obtained a $24 million verdict in a case involving prenatal genetic testing methods and achieved a complete summary judgment in complex multidistrict patent litigation.

Mr. Reines earned his B.S. from SUNY Albany in 1985 and his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1988. He is a Past-President of the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association's Northern District of California Chapter, and he teaches patent litigation at UC Berkeley Law School.
