David E. Melaugh

David E. Melaugh is an experienced intellectual property litigation attorney, primarily representing defendants in high-technology patent disputes. His practice has historically focused on complex litigation involving software, internet technologies, and mobile communications.

Mr. Melaugh has consistently worked on the defense side throughout his career. He appeared as in-house counsel for Google LLC in the case Intent IQ, LLC v. Google LLC, a notable patent infringement lawsuit concerning targeted advertising and cross-device identification based on online behavior. In this case, Google successfully moved to dismiss claims under 35 U.S.C. § 101, a decision later affirmed by the Federal Circuit.

Before his current role as General Counsel at Element Biosciences, a company developing a DNA sequencing platform, Mr. Melaugh spent 11 years as Senior Director of IP Litigation at Apple.
