Daniel Pereira

Daniel J. Pereira, Ph.D., is a patent litigation attorney with a diverse practice focusing on complex technological fields. His expertise spans chemical technologies, metallurgy, solar, bioinformatics, semiconductors, OLEDs, solid-state batteries, medical diagnostics, AI and computer-related technologies, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Dr. Pereira's scientific background, including a Ph.D. in Genetics and post-doctoral research in neurodegeneration and gene therapy, underpins his nuanced approach to intellectual property law in the medical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology sectors.

In his patent litigation practice, Dr. Pereira primarily acts as Petitioner Counsel, particularly in proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). His tracked appearances include multiple inter partes review (IPR) petitions, such as Caihong Display Devices Co., Ltd. v. Corning Incorporated (IPR2025-01017, IPR2025-00439, IPR2025-01040), where he represented the petitioner. These IPRs involved patents related to display devices and resulted in discretionary denials.

Dr. Pereira is a partner in Merchant & Gould P.C.'s Washington D.C. Area office, which he joined in April 2024.
