Christie L. Larochelle

Christie L. Larochelle is a Partner in Goodwin's Intellectual Property Litigation practice, focusing on patent, trade secret, and trademark matters. Her practice encompasses a broad range of technologies, with a particular emphasis on life sciences, as she is a member of the firm's Life Sciences Disputes group. Her background includes a Ph.D. in Physics, and she has experience in condensed matter experimentalism, including energy transfer in luminescent single crystals and quantum dots, which informs her work in complex technology areas.

Ms. Larochelle demonstrates experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in patent disputes. While her tracked appearance includes representing X1 Discovery, Inc. as a plaintiff against Microsoft Corporation, her broader practice includes defending multinational electronics and lighting manufacturers in patent infringement litigation at the ITC, securing a finding of no liability for a lighting manufacturer that was upheld on appeal. She also has experience representing both generic and branded pharmaceutical manufacturers in Hatch-Waxman Act litigation and licensing agreement arbitrations.

Before joining Goodwin, Ms. Larochelle was an associate in Ballard Spahr LLP's IP Litigation group. Her experience also extends to post-grant proceedings, as evidenced by her representation of X1 Discovery, Inc. as Patent Owner in IPR2025-00254 before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Ms. Larochelle earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law in 2016. She holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maine (2001) and a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University (1995). She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania and is registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
