Carolyn Valerie Juarez

Carolyn Valerie Juarez is a Partner at Nod Law (Neugeboren O'Dowd PC), where she focuses on intellectual property litigation and counseling. Her practice encompasses a range of IP matters, including patent, copyright, and trademark infringement, as well as trade secret misappropriation, false advertising, and unfair competition. She also provides strategic IP counseling, anti-counterfeiting measures, and trademark protection and procurement. Her industry experience spans diverse fields such as medical and diagnostic devices, software, hardware and semiconductors, consumer products, and food and beverage.

In her tracked patent litigation appearances, Ms. Juarez has represented plaintiffs. Her experience includes serving as local counsel for Haemonetics Corporation in Haemonetics Corporation v. Terumo BCT, Inc., a patent infringement suit filed in the District of Colorado in May 2025. This case involved allegations of willful infringement related to patents for plasmapheresis collection systems. The case was subsequently closed.

Related to the Haemonetics district court litigation, several patents in dispute have been challenged in Post-Grant Review (PGR) and Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). These include IPR2025-01374 and PGR2026-00006, both filed by Terumo BCT, Inc. against Haemonetics Corporation.

Ms. Juarez earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and holds a B.S. in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Marketing, cum laude, from the University of Colorado Denver. She is admitted to practice in Colorado.
