Brady Randall Cox

Brady Randall Cox is a Partner at Alston & Bird LLP, specializing in intellectual property litigation with a focus on patent and trademark disputes. His practice encompasses a wide range of technologies, including computer hardware and software, telecommunications, cryptography, e-commerce, batteries, networking, and semiconductors. With a technical background in physics and nanotechnology, Mr. Cox effectively handles complex patent disputes and licensing negotiations.

Mr. Cox primarily defends operating companies in patent infringement actions. Out of four tracked cases, he has defended in three, serving as lead counsel or U.S. counsel for defendants such as Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Snap One, LLC, and Lenovo et al.. He also has experience representing plaintiffs, as demonstrated by his role as lead counsel for VB Assets, LLC against Ford Motor Company. In 2025, Patexia recognized Mr. Cox as the "best-performing patent litigator for defendants" nationwide.

His notable representations include defending Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. against VB Assets, LLC in patent disputes concerning voice assistants and conversational AI technology, and defending Snap One, LLC against IoT Innovations LLC in litigation involving smart home ecosystems and Internet of Things (IoT) platforms. He has also acted as U.S. Counsel for Lenovo et al. in a multi-forum dispute with Marlin Semiconductor Limited regarding semiconductor devices and manufacturing technology, which also involves an International Trade Commission (ITC) investigation. His experience also includes securing an ITC win for ASUS in a patent infringement dispute against Lenovo.

Mr. Cox possesses significant experience in post-grant proceedings, routinely appearing before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He has successfully challenged patent validity in inter partes reviews (IPRs) and defended those challenges on appeal to the Federal Circuit. He is involved in IPR proceedings related to the VB Assets litigation against Samsung.
