Asim M. Bhansali

Asim M. Bhansali is a seasoned trial lawyer focusing on intellectual property litigation, including patent, trade secret, and copyright cases, as well as antitrust and commercial disputes. His patent litigation experience spans a broad range of technologies, such as computer operating systems, fixed networks, geolocation, internet advertising and content delivery, mobile devices and networks, search engines, semiconductors, and small-molecule pharmaceuticals.

Bhansali primarily defends companies, including major technology companies, against patent assertions. He has a strong track record of securing dismissals and summary judgments for clients in patent cases. Notable representations include serving as lead counsel for Ubisoft, Inc. in Uniloc USA, Inc. v. Ubisoft, Inc. and as of counsel for Twitter, Inc. in Uniloc Luxembourg S.A. v. Twitter, Inc.

Bhansali is a co-founder of Kwun Bhansali Lazarus LLP (KBL), established in 2018. Prior to co-founding KBL, he was a lawyer at Keker, Van Nest & Peters and Keker & Van Nest. He has experience in Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, having appeared as pro hac vice counsel for LinkedIn Corp. and Twitter, Inc. in an Inter Partes Review (IPR) case.

Bhansali earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1996, where he was Order of the Coif and Chancellors. He is admitted to practice in California and New York, and before several federal courts, including the Fifth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals. He was named the 2021 Lawyer of the Year in Litigation - Patent in San Francisco by Best Lawyers.
