Arun Srinivas Subramanian

Arun Srinivas Subramanian, prior to his appointment to the federal bench, was an accomplished litigator at Susman Godfrey LLP, with a practice that included patent litigation. During his tenure, his work encompassed complex civil disputes, often representing both plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes matters.

As an attorney at Susman Godfrey, Mr. Subramanian notably secured a complete jury victory in a patent infringement case in Tyler, Texas, representing Globus Medical against Flex-u-spine, Inc. His experience on the plaintiff side is also reflected in the tracked case, Personalized Media Communications, LLC v. Netflix, Inc., where he appeared as Of Counsel for the plaintiff.

Mr. Subramanian joined Susman Godfrey LLP in 2007. He was recognized for his legal abilities, including being named a "Rising Star" by the New York Law Journal in 2018. He served at Susman Godfrey until his confirmation as a United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York.

Mr. Subramanian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude from Case Western Reserve University in 2001, where he double-majored in computer science and English. He then received his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School in 2004, graduating as a James Kent Scholar and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He clerked for Judge Dennis Jacobs on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and for Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court of the United States. He was admitted to the New York State Bar. In March 2023, Mr. Subramanian was confirmed as a United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York, a position he has held since receiving his judicial commission in April 2023.
