Arpita Bhattacharyya

Arpita Bhattacharyya is a seasoned patent litigator, currently a partner at Perkins Coie LLP, which she joined in March 2025 after a tenure as partner at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP. Her practice is broad, encompassing complex intellectual property matters for both startups and established companies. She specializes in emerging and deep technologies, including augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR), AI, robotics, liquid cooling, and digital health, alongside extensive experience in medical devices, diagnostics, computer software and hardware, and various electrical and mechanical technologies. While she represents both plaintiffs and defendants, her tracked appearances show a slight emphasis on the defense side, with 7 defendant-side roles compared to 4 plaintiff-side roles.

Ms. Bhattacharyya has significant experience in district court and U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) matters, as well as appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Her case experience includes prominent disputes in optical transceiver and fiber-optic networking technologies, notably representing Eoptolink Technology USA Inc. in multiple patent infringement actions involving Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. She also acted as lead counsel for Molex, LLC in a patent infringement case brought by Applied Optoelectronics, Inc., which settled in April 2024. Additionally, she has successfully represented clients in PTAB proceedings, including convincing the Federal Circuit to vacate and remand adverse PTAB decisions, leading to claims being found unpatentable on remand for her client FOX Factory, Inc. Her practice also includes extensive post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, representing both petitioners and patent owners in inter partes review (IPR) and post-grant review (PGR) proceedings, and she has authored articles on PTAB practices.

Ms. Bhattacharyya holds a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law (2013), a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University (2008), an M.S. in Bioengineering from Clemson University (2003), and a B.E. in Electronics Engineering from S.V. National Institute of Technology, India (2001). She is admitted to practice in California and Massachusetts, before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and several U.S. District Courts.
