Anna Halsey

Anna Halsey is an experienced patent litigator with a practice emphasizing intellectual property and complex litigation matters, including patent litigation and licensing disputes. Her technological expertise spans a wide range of fields, including pharmaceuticals (particularly Hatch-Waxman litigation), computer software, food science, agricultural and manufacturing technologies, cellular, automotive, LCD chip technology, Standard Essential Patents, and cannabis-related intellectual property such as plant genetics and chemical formulations.

Halsey represents both plaintiffs seeking to enforce their intellectual property rights and defendants accused of infringement, handling cases involving utility and design patent infringement, trademark, trade dress, trade secret, and copyright infringement. While her tracked case history shows a slight leaning toward defendant-side work, her firm profile confirms her experience in advocating for clients on both sides of disputes.

Currently, Halsey is Counsel at Eversheds Sutherland (US). Her prior experience includes serving as lead counsel at Staas & Halsey, LLP, a firm specializing in patent prosecution and litigation.

Her notable cases include representing Enviro Tech Chemical Services, Inc. as a plaintiff in a patent infringement action against Clean Chemistry, Inc. concerning peracetic acid generation, a case that has also involved related Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings. She also defended ToughBuilt Industries, Inc. in a patent infringement dispute brought by Meridian International Co. Ltd. over modular tool storage systems. This district court case was stayed pending IPR proceedings initiated by ToughBuilt to challenge Meridian's patents. Halsey's broader litigation experience includes achieving summary judgments of non-infringement, obtaining jury verdicts of patent validity and infringement for clients, and participating in federal and state appeals, as well as International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 investigations.

Halsey possesses significant experience in PTAB/IPR proceedings, with her previous firm, Staas & Halsey, explicitly offering services in IPR, Post-Grant Review (PGR), and re-examination proceedings. Her involvement in the ToughBuilt v. Meridian matter further highlights her role in patent validity challenges at the USPTO.

She earned her B.S. from the College of William and Mary, her M.S. from The University of Texas, and her J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law, where she was a member of Moot Court.
