Angela Joyce Mayeux

Angela Joyce Mayeux is an experienced in-house patent litigation attorney, primarily focused on defending operating companies against patent infringement claims. Her practice emphasizes technologies related to wireless networking, satellite internet access, distributed computing, cloud infrastructure, and software systems, particularly as they apply to the airline industry's IT and inflight connectivity infrastructure.

As Director, Assistant General Counsel - Litigation at Southwest Airlines Co. since April 2012, she has managed patent litigation matters, following a tenure as Senior Litigation Attorney. Her prior experience includes working as an attorney at Bell Nunnally & Martin LLP.

Ms. Mayeux has notably represented Southwest Airlines in cases brought by Intellectual Ventures, including Intellectual Ventures II LLC et al. v. Southwest Airlines Co. and Intellectual Ventures I LLC et al. v. Southwest Airlines Co. In one such case (3:26-cv-00782), Southwest secured a procedural win when the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas granted its motion to sever and administratively close two wireless technology patent claims, applying the customer-suit exception. Another significant case (7:24-cv-00277), involving 11 patents, was transferred from the Western District of Texas after nearly a year of litigation, during which Southwest successfully moved to organize claim construction into two separate Markman hearings. Additionally, Southwest Airlines, as a petitioner, has challenged a patent related to communications in a wireless network (US Patent 11,032,000) in an IPR proceeding before the PTAB (IPR2025-01509).

Ms. Mayeux holds a Bachelor of General Studies and a Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University.
