Specialty & background

Amit R. Vora is a Partner and Chair of the Appellate & Constitutional Litigation practice group at Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP, focusing his practice on complex litigation in federal and state courts, with a particular emphasis on appellate and constitutional matters, including intellectual property disputes. His expertise spans administrative, commercial, and patent litigation, often involving issues of the First Amendment, separation of powers, and due process. Vora's sector experience also includes pharmaceutical and life sciences, financial services, and government and public policy.

In patent litigation, Mr. Vora primarily defends companies and patent holders. He served as Lead Counsel for defendant MediaTek, Inc. in MediaTek, Inc. et al. v. ParkerVision, Inc. His work also includes representing ParkerVision, Inc. as lead counsel in a petition for certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court, challenging the Federal Circuit's practice of issuing one-word affirmances under Rule 36 in appeals from the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). This highlights his active involvement in PTAB-related appeals, particularly those questioning procedural and due-process aspects of patent invalidation.

Prior to joining Kasowitz as Special Counsel in March 2023, and later becoming Partner in March 2025, Mr. Vora served as an Assistant Solicitor General with the New York State Attorney General's Office, where he litigated federal and state appeals across a broad range of constitutional and administrative issues. His career also includes experience as an Appellate Litigation Clinical Fellow and as a law clerk to Judge Edward C. Prado of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Mr. Vora holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School (2010) and an LL.M. in Appellate Advocacy from Georgetown University Law Center (2018), along with a B.A. from Yale University (2005). He is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia. He is recognized by various legal publications, including The Legal 500, Lawdragon on its 500 Leading Litigators in America list, and as a Benchmark Litigation Star.
