Amadou Kilkenny Diaw

Amadou Kilkenny Diaw is a patent litigation partner with significant experience representing innovative technology companies in complex intellectual property disputes. His practice encompasses a broad range of technologies, including data analytics, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cryptocurrency, search engines, web accessibility, wireless networking, finance, consumer products, hardware, software, and telecommunications.

Diaw frequently litigates on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in federal courts, at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and in arbitration and mediation proceedings. While his tracked appearances include two plaintiff-side matters at his former firm, his current practice is noted for representing clients across the spectrum of patent litigation. He also advises founders, startups, and established companies on intellectual property-related issues.

Previously a partner at Goodwin Procter, Diaw joined King & Spalding in August 2025, along with other intellectual property and technology litigators. Prior to Goodwin Procter, he was a senior associate and then partner at RuyakCherian (now Cherian), and an associate at Winston & Strawn. He has experience in PTAB proceedings and has commented on the impact of USPTO Director orders on IPR institution decisions.

A notable case in his portfolio is Bright Data, Ltd. v. Teso LT, UAB et al. (E.D. Tex., Case No. 2:19-cv-395), where he represented plaintiff Bright Data. In this case, a federal jury found that the defendants willfully infringed Bright Data's patents related to residential proxy solutions and awarded Bright Data $7,474,876.00 in lost profits, confirming the validity of the asserted patent claims. Related appellate proceedings (23-2443) also involved appeals from the PTAB.

Diaw earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and holds an undergraduate degree in computer science from Georgetown University.
