Alexandra M. Avvocato

Alexandra M. Avvocato is an Of Counsel attorney at Morrison & Foerster, specializing in appellate litigation with a focus on intellectual property matters. Her practice encompasses critical motions and appeals in federal and state courts, including arguments before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Federal Circuit.

Her patent litigation experience primarily involves defending technology companies. This is demonstrated by her role representing Apple Inc. as a defendant in the significant Zentian Ltd. v. Apple Inc. cases, which centered on patents related to speech recognition technology. Morrison & Foerster is recognized for its strong patent defense capabilities, frequently handling high-stakes disputes for clients in the tech, life sciences, and consumer products sectors.

Ms. Avvocato has experience with Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, specifically handling appeals stemming from Inter Partes Review (IPR) decisions. She was involved in Federal Circuit appeals originating from IPRs (IPR2023-00033, IPR2023-01192, IPR2023-00036, IPR2023-01195) in the Zentian Ltd. v. Apple Inc. litigation.
