Abby Lynn Parsons

Abby Lynn Parsons is a patent litigation partner at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer, specializing in complex intellectual property disputes. She joined the firm's Intellectual Property practice in Houston as a partner in February 2025. Her practice encompasses a diverse range of technologies, with particular expertise in pharmaceuticals and medical devices. She also handles patent litigation concerning software, oil and gas, financial services, and manufacturing.

Parsons is an experienced trial lawyer with a background in U.S. District Courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), the Federal Circuit, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). While her tracked appearances primarily indicate defendant-side work, she has represented clients as both complainants and defendants. Notably, she successfully obtained default judgments for a global pharmaceutical company against makers of imported, unapproved tirzepatide products for trademark and false advertising claims. She also secured an early settlement and dismissal in a patent infringement case involving focus-tunable lenses and litigated patent infringement claims related to smart thermostats.

Her experience includes securing early resolution of patent infringement claims for an auto-injector device and handling patent litigation for an industrial company concerning lubrication pumps for oil and gas applications. She also has experience with patent litigation involving data processing software for an insurance company. Parsons also advises clients on AI strategies, licenses, due diligence, and intellectual property investments.

Abby Parsons earned her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2008 and her B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004, summa cum laude. She is admitted to practice in Illinois, Texas, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and several U.S. District Courts, including the District of Colorado, Northern District of Illinois, and Southern District of Illinois.
