VirnetX's case against multiple defendants; the '759 patent was part of the patent set. First Apple trial resulted in a ~$368M willful-infringement verdict. On appeal, VirnetX I, 767 F.3d 1308 (Fed. Cir. 2014), affirmed validity and VPN-on-Demand infringement, vacated FaceTime infringement and damages, and remanded. The Cisco portion ended with a Cisco non-infringement verdict.

VirnetX and SAIC asserted patents against Apple over iPhone 5, iPod touch 5th gen., iPad 4th gen., iPad mini, and then-current Macs. The case was consolidated with 6:11-cv-00563 and later amended to add 8,051,181 and 8,504,697. It produced the 2016 retrial on the '504/'211 patents and the April 2018 trial on the '135/'759/'180/'151 patents; further post-trial/appellate proceedings continued into the 2020s.

VirnetX and SAIC asserted four patents against Microsoft, including the '211 patent. The court's claim-construction order construed '211 claim terms. The case was resolved by settlement/license; settlement date and amount are not confirmed in the narrative.
